STARSAILOR are to play a homecoming show in Warrington to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut album.
Love Is Here, which peaked at number two in the charts and went on to be certified platform, came out on October 8, 2001.
Band members, bassist James ‘Stel’ Stelfox and drummer Ben Byrne both grew up in Warrington, and with their last performance in the town part of Warrington Festival in 2016, they will doubt be looking forward to returning in-front of their fans once again, playing the record track by track in full at Parr Hall 20 years to the day since the release.
Love Is Here featured one of their most successful singles – the top 10 Alcoholic as well as the top 20 hits, Fever and Good Souls.
The album sold 58,424 copies on its opening week of release, charting at No.2 in the UK album charts.
Q listed Love Is Here as one of the best 50 albums of 2001, while NME rated it as the fifth best album of the year
Frontman James Walsh who was born in neighbouring Wigan explained in solo interviews last year that covid had hit them hard, but had kept working on things. Explaining to Live4Ever: “We’ve got a lot of new material that we’re excited about, but the initial idea to start off with was to commemorate the first album. We’ve been looking at different ways to do that. One of the ideas was to make a beer for it, which I’m quite excited about. I feel like it makes more sense to get people back on board with the band by revisiting the debut album and reimagining some of the songs. To ease them in for the new material!”
