Stockton Heath musician Kim Jennett will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of other successful alumni from the town as she starts her journey on the new series of The Voice UK.
This weekend sees the second set of blind try outs for the new series fresh from last weekend’s opening show.
It’s the tenth season of the show and in previous years the town has been represented in 2017 by semi finalist Max Vickers and eventual winner, Mo Jamil, and a year later, BIMM Manchester student Chloe Èleanor Jones was picked by Tom Jones.
For Kim who has played everything from Download Festival to Warrington Music Festival alongside Scouting For Girls, between a stink as vocalist for blues rock band, Voodoo Blood, there will no doubt be lots of interest to see how she fares at the weekend. Will she turn the chairs of either Sir Tom Jones, Olly Murs or Will.i.am? Tune in to find out.
Updated (9th January)
Despite Olly Murs kicking himself for not pressing his buzzer, Kim went home without a chair turn but all the judges loved her voice. Kim has been busy working on music as she’s been keeping her first TV appearance under wraps, and it’s another new turn to her musical direction…
Speaking after the performance, Kim said: ‘Yeah, [I’m a] bit gutted. I gave it my all. ‘I’ve just got quite unique voice, maybe that wasn’t what they were looking for.’ However, she certainly impressed viewers of the show, with fans outraged that the stars didn’t turn for her. ‘@kimjennettsings you deserved 4 turns , totally nailed it #thevoiceuk #robbed,’ one said.
Sunday afternoon’s have been a regular spot in the schedule for the singer as she spent a number of hours performing originals and covers to her devote fanbase. Her next one is this Sunday at 7:30pm where she is joined by special guest Adam Breeze from Raveneye.
