Jack Woodward releases new single ‘Rain’ today

We’re long time fans of Jack Woodward, and since his Warrington Music Festival appearance in 2017, the Lymm-based musician has been busy performing across the North West and releasing music regularly. We caught up with Jack to learn more about the new single, released today.

‘Rain’ takes writing influence from some of my favourite artists The Killers, Hozier and Bruce Springsteen and some country western / spaghetti western movie sounds and vibes.

The sound we created in the studio used the strengths in production of my last big single ‘Higher’ while also bringing in new sounds likened to Blossoms, and Tom Grennan.

‘Rain’ is about a man who has made a terrible mistake and committed a crime. He’s on the run from the world and searching for escape and solace anywhere he can find it: his lover. – Jack Woodward

This year I’ve played lots of new venues and festivals both solo and with my backing band, including performing on the X Factor Live Tour in Brighton to 4500 people! playing the BBC Introducing Stage at Blackburn’s festival of making, playing a sold out gig at Sound in Liverpool and The Cavern Club.

My last EP ‘Higher’ was met with incredible support, with tracks broadcast multiple times by BBC Introducing Lancashire, Amazing Radio, features from ‘Gigslutz’, and BBC 6 Music’s ‘Fresh Faves’ and interviews with BBC Introducing Lancashire and Warrington Guardian.I’m really excited to share my new song and hear what listeners and people in the industry think of it.

You can hear ‘Rain’ on today’s Unsigned with Wire FM from 1:30pm, and in full on the Radio Station’s website here. The track is available now from iTunes and Spotify.

Jack will be performing at Frodsham on the Hill Festival, supporting Cast on Friday 16th July. Tickets are available at onthehill.live.
