Priestley to launch EP in Liverpool

PRIESTLEY are hosting an EP launch party on Friday – and they are bringing their friends from the Warrington music scene.

The Americana band will be releasing No More Wasting Time at Studio2 in Parr Street, Liverpool.

The launch part kicks off at 6.30pm with performances from Lymm singer Ellie Dibben, Warrington Music Festival regular Kye Jones and Birchwood band Sweet Release.

Their five-track EP was recorded at Edwin Street Studios in Bury.

Matt Morley (Keys & Vocals) said: “They have an ambient pop, rock quality to the production so it made sense to bring these tracks together for a release.

“We have named it No More Wasting Time. This is due to the traction that the title song has gained for us so far – and the motivation that we’re not getting any younger!”

Priestley are Sam Allen (Guitar and & Vocals) & Matthew Morley who met at Priestley College in the UK (hence the name) where they studied drama, film and television.  Sam had recently arrived from his home in the USA and after they earned their University degrees both embarked on an acting career and have appeared many times since on Film & Television.  Sam has also worked on several films with Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp as their picture double, whilst Matthew has stunt doubled for Benedict Cumberbatch in the Sherlock TV series.

While working together on film sets they discovered their mutual love for music and songwriting and decided to work up some songs together.  The result is a little bit of everything prevalent in today’s folk, country and pop.  Encouragement from all around convinced them to put the acting on hold and follow their true passion.  Seems to have been a good decision too with BBC Introducing Merseyside backing their music in the UK, and bookings at the world famous Cavern Club in Liverpool, Halliwell Jones Stadium and several music festivals.
