KLAUT are a semi improvised noise collective from Warrington who formed in 2015 . They like krautrock sounds and fine stouts.
They have a new EP out now on their Bandcamp page to download for free (or pay what you like) for a limited time only, and iTunes/ Spotify Monday. The three tracks were recorded over December ’16-January’17 period.
You can hear the 3 tracks below.
All tracks written and performed by KLAUT: Mark Andrews, James Goodison, Roger Jeffery.
Roger was nice enough to get in touch to let [WAM] know a little bit more about each track;
1. ‘Primrose and Blue’ is a short off-kilter track which is a sort of ode to Warrington, from the perspective of an outsider (an artist we worked with on something else) visiting the town and being surprised that they actually quite like it
2. The title track ‘New Kite’ starts with a simple arpeggiator loop. It takes a while to get going but WAIT – it soon builds up into a joyous and melodic freak-out complete with whistling and synths and guitars and then more synths and guitars. Lovely stuff.
3. The epic closing track ‘Yellow Mello’ starts relatively calmly but it soon escalates into utter chaos. It all culminates with the irate Yorkshire poetry of guest vocalist Ian Smith from the Fairfield and Howley Neighbourhood Project who rails against the evils of gentrification.
